My Granddaughter
Finally got off my bum, went out and bought a sandbox kit for my granddaughter. She's just under 4 but she spends at least one night and day each week at our place and loves it. I ended up buying a kit (in a box) and just screwed it together, it should have been an easy job, but the pre-drilled holes were very small which made it hard work.
Put a tarp in the back of the car on the next day and filled the back with sandbox sand, which was just enough to fill the sandbox.
Took a short video of her playing in it, as she absolutely loves to be outside and hardly got out of the sandbox.
I must admit that i find it very tiring when my granddaughter is here, but then after she has gone home, I find that I miss her. She really is the most adorable little girl and for reasons I cannot understand, she seems to like me a lot.
I also cannot understand any grandparent who doesn't want to see their grandchildren, as children are generally honest and either like you or not. There's no two-faced hypocrisy with little children - what you see is what you get, and to be loved by the innocence of your grandchild is absolute perfection.

How not to snowkite.
Snowkiting is supposed to be fun - isn't it?
This is one reason why you shouldn't go snowkiting!!
The good stuff starts at about 34 seconds. Enjoy.

We all need one of these.
If you can't figure it out, they're fake spilled stuff that you put on the table where you sit to save your spot.
We're really an inventive species, aren't we?

TV Crime shows
Anyone else apart from me getting fed up with the "true to life" crime shows on tv. My wife (and apparently heaps of other people) actually like this garbage.
I'm retired and enjoy watching TV (docos and real shows mainly), but it seems that if you don't like crime shows then you have to watch a "reality" show (and I use that term begrudgingly).
The reality shows are all about a bunch of narcissistic, self opinionated people who have an insane desire for instant fame and the crime shows are full of actors portraying giggling, unprofessional, glamorous macho types who don't adhere to the law and just run around waving guns and lots of blue lights and never do any paperwork.
Am I the only person who finds these shows incredibly unrealistic, far fetched and boring. I quite like a good thriller or crime show but the only ones that come close are some of the British shows. Realistically, detectives handle several cases at once (not several detectives to one case at a time), and it would be extremely rare to solve any case in a day.
Maybe I'm just cynical in my old age, but I prefer to watch shows that at least bear a slight resemblance to real life. Blue lights, people walking over a crime scene, joking about death, people with makeup and fashion clothes at 2am, beating people up, no lawyer representation, magic computers that instantly find anything, science fiction plastic screens and more.
How many of these ridiculous shows are they going to make:

Gamblers WOW!!!
Went with my wife for lunch at the local hotel (yeah it was good), and she went into the poker machine room to spend her usual $20.00. In South Australia we have one of the dumbest ideas ever thought of by politicians - they legalised poker machines in EVERY hotel in the state! Of course this provides the State Government with an incredible amount of money at the expense of people who can least afford it and many who have become gambling addicts resulting in broken marriages, homes, bankruptcy and even suicide.
I don't gamble, but I find it fascinating sitting and watching the habitual gamblers pouring money into machines that they cannot possibly win at.
This is what it looks like - they sit for hours in a zombie like state for hours at a time, completely oblivious to everything except the screen in front of them. The machinies are GUARANTEED to only pay out about 87% - which means that these people who continually play them are GUARANTEED to lose 13%.
Yep, that's right, there's no possible way that they can win, but they still keep playing.
But just out of interest, on the day we were there my wife won $70.00 - so we took it and left. Ha Ha!!
